I am running for 5th ward commissioner because I want to make a positive difference in the community and serve neighbors and residents. Since July, when I began knocking on Ward 5 doors, I have heard from countless residents about the issues that are important to them, and have been able to share a little bit about my own perspective.
If elected as your commissioner, I will prioritize:
Increasing Sustainability
  • Weather events and flooding have become more common in the last 15 years. In order to address the long-term effects of climate change and stormwater mitigation, the Township needs to make smart investments in infrastructure and increase servicing and capacity of our drainage systems in many areas. We must invest federal stimulus funds wisely, in order to best prepare for the future and address current issues.

  • I want to make Haverford a more bike and pedestrian-friendly Township, and effectively use community grants and partnerships to ensure that we invest wisely in new projects that promote accessibility for all in the township.

  • Effectively partnering with government agencies and officials, as well as utilities and other public services, to ensure that we are coordinating to increase sustainability efforts.

  • I will advocate for innovative solutions and investments in energy efficiency, including solar energy, green infrastructure and continued sustainable environmental practices that improve our local response to climate change.

  • I support increasing LEED-certified buildings in the township, improving recycling, moving towards carbon neutrality, as well as sustainability efforts such as rain gardens, and making Haverford a leader in promoting environmental sustainability.

Making Smart Progress

  • Haverford must support its small business community and continue to strengthen its partnership with the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development (HPED).

  • Haverford’s economic growth should reflect the Township’s needs and changing demographics -- issues such as the availability of day care, after-school care, and other businesses and resources that families need.

  • There is no more important project facing the Board of Commissioners than to invest in its library. It is absolutely essential that we improve library and community resources for Haverford's residents today as well as for future generations.

  • I will advocate for a stronger downtown business district in Haverford to make the community more attractive to new investment and residents.

Supporting Our Community

  • I am invested in the future for my children and yours. We should maintain and improve efficient, responsive community services that benefit seniors, families, children, economic development including support for our local businesses.

  • I will advocate for community engagement with the police department and other township departments to ensure the safety of all residents in the township.

  • I want to increase residents' involvement in a more open and engaged community through volunteer service to the township, increasing transparency in our government, and utilizing the community's expertise.
